ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
YIES belongs to the international EcoSchool Organization and as a green School promotes concepts such as environmental respect and sustainability, recycling, reusing, reducing wast. All our projects refer to the main concept of sustainability and students are personally engaged to champion it.

The 4 “R´s” Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Respect
It is built around the concept of reducing waste and saving energy, through the development of a responsible behaviour in children. As a response to our consumer society our aim is to help build a re-use, rather than a throw_away philosophy.
Rainwater Harvesting for School Garden – water explorers project
Gathering rainwater to discover that rainwater harvesting is a great way to conserve water. Children can also learn about the collection of rainfall data.
Animals and extinction: what can we do? MARINE TURTLES PROJECT
Research, analysis and identification of reasons for extinction. Students can create connections via mail and video with centres of marine turtle conservation in Italy and abroad. This allows students to really understand what they can do to become an active part of the project.

Eco-Schools Italia”, www.ecoschools.it is the program led by FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education, the organization that sustains and promotes environmental education in the schools worldwide) part of a vast European Program sponsored by UN.
Yieschool won the green flag in 2018 and is a member of Ecoschools. Sustainability is one of the pillars of our curriculum.
